"Healing" began as a glimpse (like many of my songs): something I see -- an experience, a perspective. In this case I witnessed a young lady sobbing during a church service (for no apparent reason), and a man, presumably her lover, seated next to her, awkwardly holding her around the shoulder, and glancing about nervously. I thought this queer and intriguing. I jotted a few words in my notebook, and wrote this song regarding the situation. I never found out their real situation, and I do not know if either of them received the healing they sought. I never saw them again.
